Doven 30 yacht “Option”.
A delightful, ship-shape Doven (Knoop) 30 cruising yacht. This classic Tasmanian cruising yacht was designed by the highly respected Walter Knoop and built to handle exacting southern conditions. The vessel is set up for short-handed cruising but would also make a great family boat through to competitive sailing. A Yanmar 2QM15 diesel engine provides ample and very economical auxiliary power. Below the deck, the saloon incorporates a fully functional galley, a neat dinette, a private bathroom (the toilet is fully enclosed with a locking door) and berths for up to 6-8. The Doven 30 is legendary for their sailing performance and seakeeping. These are capable, easily handled 'pocket' coastal cruisers and “Option” is a fine example of this.
She has recently been slipped (Dec 2023) and antifouled with checks on the rudder stock, skin fittings, propeller, propeller shaft and skeg insected at that time.
Outside, the cockpit is well protected by the spray dodger. “Option” is well set up to be easily sailed shorthanded with the self tailing primary winches, mainsheet in easy reach of the helm and all lines lead back to the cockpit. There is easy access around the side decks, and plenty of space on the bow.
This yachts has crossed Bass Strait on a few occassions (She was based in Geelong for a few years).
