BRUCE KING 46 – A YACHT BUILT WITH HEART, HERITAGE & HUMAN HANDS
Some yachts are built. A rare few are created.
This Bruce King 46 is the result of one man's vision, another man's craftsmanship, and twenty five years of patient, meticulous dedication. She is more than a vessel -- she is the final chapter of a Tasmanian boatbuilding legacy, shaped by hand, plank by plank, with the kind of devotion that simply doesn't exist in modern production yards.
Designed by the legendary Bruce King, whose work with Ericson Yachts shaped an era of American yacht design, this 46 footer carries the DNA of a master. King was a pioneer -- blending traditional lines with modern composite thinking long before it became fashionable. His yachts are known for soul, balance, and beauty. This one is no exception.
Built in five layers of cold moulded King Billy pine, strengthened with Huon Pine, Teak and Mahogany, she is a celebration of Tasmania's finest boatbuilding timbers -- materials that will never again be available in this quality or quantity.
She has been pain stakingly built over the last 25 years by local yachting and boat building identity Hugh Wardrop. The level of detail that has gone into this build as well as the overall finish is a testament to his craftsmanship.....
Walk her decks and you feel it instantly: The warmth of the teak. The glow of the two pack topsides. The precision of every joint, curve, and fastening. This is craftsmanship you don't just see -- you feel.
With a 46' 11" LOA, 13' 6" beam, 6' 9" draft, and a forgiving sail plan, she is designed to be sailed by one person but admired by many. Her Volvo Penta 62hp and 600L of diesel give her a motoring range of 600-700nm, perfect for extended Tasmanian cruising or a passage north when the time comes.
And the story isn't finished. The buyer will help write the final pages -- selecting the last of the deck hardware and electronics, and standing proudly at her side for the launch and sea trials. Few owners ever get to experience that moment. Fewer still with a yacht of this calibre. The buyer will also be invited to participate in the launching and sea trial process prior to final handover--an experience as special as the yacht itself.
This is not just a purchase. It's an inheritance. A chance to become the first chapter in a yacht's life that will outlast all of us.
